papers and more papers
I'm behind with stuff that was meant to be handed in a couple of weeks ago. I'm drowning in research papers and coffee, I haven't slept in 36 hours and some lame idiot ate the food I left in the fridge last night.

If is says 'SHISHIDO RYOU' it's mine, don't fucking touch it. I'm so fed up with arseholes.

I so need this to get me through all this work.

The coffee may have warped your general sense of time. Nobody ate it, I threw it out. It was developing its own ecosystem.

Should I make any sometime soon, I'll be sure to set it aside and give it to you once it reaches the same state of decay yours was in. In the interest of fairness, of course.

How it's that fair? I can't wait that long, I'm hungry now. Besides, I don't believe you. I'm sure it was last night i left it.

I'll be sure to take a picture before removing anything growing fluff from the refrigerator next time.

I was planning on making myself a smoothie soon. They're very invigorating. I could probably be convinced to make a second one.

I'm sure there's plenty of local places you could look at. I suppose it depends on what you're feeling like. If bloated ramen is your thing, there's probably cheap places that do that.

Have you tried exercise? I hear doing 100 squats to stay awake is effective.

Otherwise, something cold. Warm food in this weather makes me sleepy.

Thanks, that was actually helpful.

I like Rey~ it's good to have a strong female main in the franchise.

Then on Monday you'll sleep in and forget to turn it in.

Papers are difficult, aren't they? Why must professors always make them all due on the same day.

You like Star Wars? What are your thoughts on the most recent movie?
(Reply) (Thread) (Link)
Shishido R.: Default[personal profile] shishidoryo on February 19th, 2018 08:19 pm (UTC)
They didn't. Life happened and I didn't have time to finish them all when they were due, so got an extension for today. They've been handed in so fuck knows now how good they are.

Star Wars is awesome. Rey is just the best female character ever to exist... urgh, why isn't she real?? It was good, I thought. People complain a lot but I think it does what it should do. Fun, entertain, cool, with twists of sort. Follows up the originals pretty well, not like the shit prequel ones.

Do you like them?

[ooc: strike = deleted... no one needs to know he has a massive dork crush on Rey]

That's a shame. I'm sure that they'll pass muster. It's good that you were able to get an extension.

I watch movies primarily for the acting. I wasn't too fond of the script, but I think that the actors did a much better job in the sequels than they did in the prequel trilogy (or, dare I say, the original trilogy). I know. Blasphemy. If I don't think too hard about its shortcomings, it was an enjoyable movie and the actors did the best they could with the script, which I gather didn't sit entirely well with them from the interviews.

Shishido R.: Pondering[personal profile] shishidoryo on February 19th, 2018 08:37 pm (UTC)
They tend to agree when I ask.

Everyone is a critic. You watch just for that? There is a lot more to films than just acting. Ideally, you wanna have everything in one... good script, good acting, good cinematography, good directing etc etc, but you can hardly get half of that the way films are produced nowadays. Go watch 'Feel Good Men', 'Good Will Hunting' for the whole package and not space opera sci-fi, know what I mean

Irie Kanata: :0[personal profile] jazzforyoursoul on February 19th, 2018 08:49 pm (UTC)
I suppose that I should be inclined to agree with you on that, but I strongly believe that the foundation of any sort of performance is good acting. You can have excellent everything else, but bad acting can make the entire film fall flat. I have nothing but the greatest respect for directors, producers, cinematographers, scriptwriters, and all of the other people that work on films, but they are artists and actors are the primary medium through which they work. Casting also plays an important role. You need to have the right people for the right characters or the whole movie falls apart. If, for example, although they are both good actresses, if Rose and Rey were played by each others' actresses, our perceptions of them as characters would change drastically.

Shishido R.: Better than you[personal profile] shishidoryo on February 19th, 2018 08:56 pm (UTC)
I won't say I get acting, I don't. I can't act for shit either and I don't even know how anyone can look at green wall and get any emotions out of it. I remember reading and interview with Ewan McGregor and he said it was basically shit experience trying to interact with nothing. So I tend to turn a blind eye when it comes to actors who can't perform as well as they could have done.

So you do acting as stuff? Is that what you study?
(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) (Link)
Irie Kanata[personal profile] jazzforyoursoul on February 20th, 2018 03:48 pm (UTC)
That wasn't precisely my point, but oh well. I have naught but the greatest respect for actors that can act with greenscreens and such.

I only act recreationally. I'm in med school, hence the headache over papers. Soon I'll be a proper surgeon and licensed to operate. I'm assuming that you're in a similarly rigorous field?
