I suppose that I should be inclined to agree with you on that, but I strongly believe that the foundation of any sort of performance is good acting. You can have excellent everything else, but bad acting can make the entire film fall flat. I have nothing but the greatest respect for directors, producers, cinematographers, scriptwriters, and all of the other people that work on films, but they are artists and actors are the primary medium through which they work. Casting also plays an important role. You need to have the right people for the right characters or the whole movie falls apart. If, for example, although they are both good actresses, if Rose and Rey were played by each others' actresses, our perceptions of them as characters would change drastically.
